Planners review developments proposals for consistency with applicable land use regulations. They assist the 建筑部门 by reviewing building permits, and they are the lead reviewers for development projects such as subdivisions, short plats and boundary line adjustments, 分级, 清算, 填充, 林业转换. Staff members also conduct on-site inspections and code enforcement investigations related to land use violations.

The Planning Department also works with the 计划委员会 and Board of County 委员 to review and update the County's Comprehensive Plan and land use regulations consistent with community needs and desires. State requirements require regular reviews and updates to the County's Shoreline and 关键领域 regulations to ensure consistency with state regulations. Changes to land use regulations requires approval of the Board of County 委员 after review by the 计划委员会.
